Since moving back to the UK permanently back in 2016, not a year has gone by that I haven’t visited some part of Spain. And yes, that includes 2020; my fiancée and I were lucky enough to squeeze a long weekend away in Barcelona in February, just before the proverbial sh*t hit the fan. The purpose of that visit was to check out a potential wedding venue in a remote Catalonian town – it ticked all our boxes and we were ready to part with a hefty deposit to secure it for a summer wedding this year. Thank god we held fire, just to see how this coronavirus thing would pan out… Regardless, we spent the rest of that mini-break sightseeing and consuming more than our combined body weight in fabulous tapas and wine. Which is possibly my favourite thing to do. And now that the covid-19 clouds are finally starting to part – and the springtime sunshine is beaming through – my appetite for an identical trip is well and truly whet.
